Kambo
What is Kambo?
Kambo is a non-psychoactive traditional Amazonian medicine derived from the secretion of the Phyllomedusa bicolor frog. It is used by indigenous tribes for its cleansing and healing properties. The practice involves applying the frog secretion to small burns on the skin, leading to an intense purging process believed to cleanse the body of toxins.

What to Expect During a Kambo Ceremony
A Kambo ceremony begins with setting intentions and preparing mentally and physically for the experience. The practitioner creates small burns (gates) on the skin and applies the Kambo secretion (points) to these burns. The effects are immediate, often including sweating, vomiting, (or a restroom purge), flushing, increased heart rate, and head pressure.
After a Kambo ceremony, people commonly experience:
- Reduced Pain
- More Motivation
- Increased Energy
- Enhanced Clarity
- Improved Mood
- Sense of Peace and Wellness
Those with chronic illnesses may experience a brief period of heavy detox, as Kambo helps eliminate pathogenic bacteria and their toxins.
How Many Sessions Do You Need?
The number of Kambo sessions needed varies depending on individual health goals and conditions. Generally:
- For general well-being: 1-3 sessions may be sufficient to boost energy, mood, and wellness.
- For chronic conditions: Multiple sessions, spaced out over several weeks or months, may be required. Some may need 6-10 sessions, depending on the severity of their condition.
It’s fine to try Kambo once, but if you have a specific goal in mind, committing to at least 3 sessions is recommended.
